I am linking up again with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky party. It has been awhile, but life has been anything but normal lately.
This has been a crazy month and it has been one full of happy moments, anxious moments, devastating moments, and fulfilling moments. It has made me appreciate my family and friends and it has taught me to avoid dwelling on the negative so that I can allow the positive to happen.
One month ago today, my son and his family arrived in Canada. He has been living in Korea for 14 years and I am so excited that he has returned home. Since he has arrived, it has been like a tornado of activity around our house and his house. (He just took possession a few days ago and is now living amongst boxes and stuff everywhere.) Of course, before he left, he decided to renovate our upstairs, so we are living with things everywhere as well. I finally got the living room and dining room mostly organized again, but we will be without a kitchen sink for a few weeks still. I love that he wanted to do this for us, but it is hard to function with everything happening around us.
My daughter was the victim of rental scam last week. It was devastating for her as we arrived in a new province and found she had no place to live and no money to look for another place. God was looking after us and had a different plan, so we met many people who helped to put the plan in action. She is now in an apartment and it has been furnished and stocked with food so that she is able to move on. She has also discovered that there are many good people in the world and that she can count on them. One family in particular has taken her under their wing and I feel at peace now with leaving her there.
This is supposed to be a week of joy and excitement as we head back to school. Unfortunately, in our province, we are not in school yet. We are on the picket line instead. Hopefully that will change very soon. I am very anxious to get into my classroom and start working with my kids. I have prepared materials for my students and I am eager to get to know them. I must continue to focus on that as we fight for their rights and best interests.
I have decided that I must take care of myself through all the stress and uncertainty that lies ahead. I am going to the gym and working on getting in shape. I am also trying to get more sleep and eat healthier. I have discovered a protein collagen chew that is really helping me with my joints and muscles. It has made a huge different in my mobility and many other things as well.
I am working on balance between personal and professional life and I am focusing on putting out positive energy instead of negative energy. This makes me feel better both emotionally and physically.
I am excited to be part of a special collaborative group of teachers that will be posting dollar deals once a month. My day will be the 7th of each month. Watch for a post about my deal coming up on Sunday. I am also joining in on a linky at the beginning of each month that is being hosted by Laura Graham of Where The Magic Happens. This Saturday, the special will be 50% off of featured items in our TPT stores. Hop on over to her blog and check out the stores that are participating.
Well, there you have it. Just a glimpse into my whirlwind of late. I hope you are having a calmer time wherever you are.
